Every year at the end of the summer term we hold a Showcase for 3 nights. This is a wonderful way for family and friends to see what the Motion students have been learning over the year.
Punctuality: Please make sure you arrive 1 hour before the show start time. On Thursday and Friday dancer’s arrival 6pm for a 7pm show. Saturday dancer’s arrival 5pm for a 6pm show. Punctuality is crucial for a successful show.
Safety: Ensure that your child has a proper warm-up and stretch before the show. This will be provided on stage at 6.10pm/5.10pm and then a vocal warm up for singers at 6.20pm/5.20pm. Explore your creative side with our contemporary dance classes. Our instructors will guide you through expressive movements and techniques that will help you tell your own story.
Costumes and attire: Ensure that your child has the correct costumes and has the appropriate hair, make up and shoes for their performance. Keep your dance bag and personal items neatly arranged and labelled to avoid confusion or mix-ups with others. This helps maintain an organized and efficient changing room environment. Be mindful of other dancers' personal space and belongings in the changing room. Avoid touching or handling items that do not belong to you
Privacy and modesty: Please only change costumes in designated changing rooms to maintain privacy and ensure modesty. Parents are permitted to assist with costume changes and hair preparation in the changing rooms. Avoid unnecessary exposure and keep conversations appropriate. Boys from year 6 upwards will have a designated changing room and must not entre female changing. No males are allowed in the Inter/Senior changing room at any time. Please be aware of the personal space of other children and parents in the changing room.
Etiquette: When near the stage door and on the side of the stage dancers must remain quiet and not distract the dancers on stage. They will be encouraged to applaud and cheer at appropriate moments to show support. Encourage a positive and supportive atmosphere in the changing room by offering words of encouragement to your child and others. Celebrate their efforts and create a friendly environment.
Support and encouragement: Be supportive of your child's participation and efforts. Encourage them to do their best and enjoy the experience. Remind them that the most important thing is to have fun and express themselves through dance.
Follow instructions: Listen to any instructions or guidance provided by your dance teachers. This ensures a smooth and coordinated performance. If you have any questions or problems, please speak to either Amy, Danielle or Lizzie.
Photography and videography: Please respect our rules regarding photography and videography. Photos may be taken backstage but please be mindful that others may be changing in the background, also double check with other parents before putting on social media. There will be a professional photographer at the dress rehearsal. Absolutely NO filming or photos to be taken during the show from the auditorium. It is being professionally filmed on the Saturday night this along with the photographs will be available to purchase. Details to follow.
Keep the changing room, toilets and surrounding areas clean: Help maintain cleanliness by disposing of any rubbish or discarded items properly. Encourage your child to do the same and leave the changing room, toilets and surrounding areas as you would expect to find them.
Performance: Have fun, enjoy dancing and SMILE!
